American Staffing (once known as American Temporary Services) was started in August, 1980 in Meridian, Idaho as a permanent employment agency by Melinda Madsen. We opened in a small, one-room office with Melinda and a part-time receptionist. Melinda did all the interviewing, screening, testing, reference checking, outside sales, bookkeeping, referrals, etc.
After two years, we dropped the permanent agency and dedicated ourselves to temporary service. Because we have placed such importance on ethics and integrity in the business, we have grown to be the largest privately owned temporary service in the state of Idaho, and possibly the Northwest. Offices of ASI are now located in Boise, Nampa, Twin Falls, and Fruitland, Idaho, and Elko and Winnemucca, Nevada, with the corporate office in Boise. We service five states.
Today we have nearly 40 full-time staff employees and occasionally utilize temporary employees during our peak seasons. Every one of the staff at ASI is at the disposal of both the clients and the temporary employees, to place qualified people for either short-term or long-term assignments with our clients. We know that if a client and a temporary employee are happy, they will recommend us to their friends and word-of-mouth advertising is the most important advertising we can have.
If a person has been out of the workforce for any length of time, we understand that they can be experiencing a real loss of self-esteem. We try to let those people know this feeling is common and the right job is right around the corner. Our staff is pledged to treat everyone with the respect they would expect for themselves. We are continually educating our staff on any and all state and federal employment laws. Our sales staff is the most elite and knowledgeable in the temporary help industry.
